Abstract: |
Objective To research the stress corrosion failure of No.45 and Q235 carbon steels in different kinds of atmospheric environments. Methods No.45 and Q235 carbon steels were used to prepare U-shape samples and tensile samples. The corrosion test in atmospheric exposure for three years was conducted in atmospheric environment in Wanning, Jiangjin and Xishuangbanna. The rust layer depth analysis and the tensile failure analysis were performed to investigate the stress corrosion of carbon steel in different atmospheric environments. Results The u-shaped sample under the influence of the tensile stress in the three kinds of atmospheric environment had different depth of corrosion pits. Strength of extension had declined in a short period of time and failured in Wanning atmospheric environment, while it declined slowly in xishuangbanna and Jiangjin atmospheric environment. Conclusion Due to difference in atmospheric contaminants, the corrosion degree varied for U-shape samples under the influence of tensile stress. The tensile strength of tensile samples was periodically decreased during the process of corrosion. |
