Abstract:
Objective To study the susceptibility to galvanic corrosion between TC4 titanium alloy thick plate and aluminum alloys and steels. Methods The susceptibility to galvanic corrosion between TC4 titanium alloy and dissimilar materials such as aluminum alloys and steels were studied by measuring galvanic current of the mentioned couples. Results It was easy to produce the galvanic corrosion between TC4 titanium alloy thick plate and aluminum alloys and steels. TC4 titanium alloy thick plate was prohibited to contact aluminum alloys and steels directly. Effective protective measures must be adopted. Anodic oxidation treatment for titanium alloy and aluminum alloys could reduce the galvanic corrosion sensitivity. Anodic oxidation treatment for titanium alloy and plating steels with a Cd-Ti layer at the same time could decrease the galvanic corrosion sensitivity to a certain degree. Conclusion The galvanic corrosion between TC4 titanium alloy and aluminum alloys and steels are susceptible. Surface treatment can efficiently decrease the galvanic corrosion susceptibility.
