Abstract: |
Samples were prepared from broken composite eyeglasses frame. The morphology of fracture was observed using scanning electron microscopy and the composition of fracture was analyzed by EDX. It was found that glasses frame and metal hinge joints are weak parts of glasses. The composite eyeglasses are mainly made of plastic (acetate) and copper-nickel-zinc alloys (brass). The metal hinge joint connected frame and elbow was nickel plated. It is easy to break at the bonding between plastic and metal under the condition of cold weather or being impacted. |
