Abstract: |
Cyclic polarization technique and potentiodynamic technique were used to study influences of salinity to 5083 aluminum alloy in seawater. The result indicated that corrosion potential first shifted to negative direction rapidly with time in first few days, then reaches steady-state values after 60days; breakdown potential decreased with increase in salinity, and protection potential first decreases then increases and achieves minimum when the salinity is1.5%; microscopic pictures of5083aluminum alloy showed that the most serious corrosion of5083happens at the salinity of1.5% in seawater; the potential range of cathodic protection of5083aluminum alloy in seawater of different salinity is generally between -0.9V and -1.05V. |
