Abstract:
The scattering characteristics of sand/dust particles were analyzed using Mie theory. The attenuation characteristic of infrared electromagnetic wave propagation in sand and dust with special size distribution was studied. The results showed that the attenuation of exponential distribution is very close to that of the Log-normal distribution, and decreases with visibility. From the calculation results of different sand weather at a wavelength of11μm, it was shown that sand-dust storm causes the highest attenuation, while the natural sand gives the lowest attenuation.
