Objective To study effects of excess air ratio on mixing characteristics in cylinder. Methods Mixing synergistic efficiency and mixing synergistic degree were defined to quantitatively investigate the mixing characteristics in cylinder based on the coupling effect of scalar physical fields of fuel mixture concentration and turbulent mixing rate. Results With the increase of excess air coefficient, the interaction duration of fuel mixture concentration field and turbulent mixing field also increased. When the excess air coefficient ranged from 1.3 to 1.6, the peak values of mixing synergistic efficiency decreased with the increase of excess air coefficient. In the range from 1.6 to 2.2, the peak value of mixing synergistic efficiency tended to be on the rise with the increase of excess air coefficient. Conclusion The mixing synergistic is different before and after excess air coefficient of 1.7. When the excess air coefficient reaches 1.7, with the increase of excess air coefficient, the improvement space of mixing quality decreases. |
