Abstract:
Objective To observe the high temperature oxidation behaviors of superhigh temperature metal coating Y11 made through vacuum arc ion plating at 1200 ℃. Methods HY11 coating was deposited by AIP on single crystal nickel-base superalloy DD6. The cyclic oxidation test was carried out at 1200 ℃ through HB5258 cyclic oxidation. The oxidation life of the coating was assessed through mass change during test. The microstructure of the sample after oxidation was analyzed with SEM. The phase structure of the coating was analyzed with X-RAY diffractometer. The oxidation resistance of the coating was characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Results For HY11 coating made of single target ARC ion plating after two hours of diffusion in vacuum at 1050 ℃, the thickness of coating was 50~60 ?m, the thickness of diffusion zone was 10~15 μm. Microstructure of the coating was uniform and dense. The alloy interface of the coating was clear and flat. The cyclic oxidation life of DD6 alloy at 1200 ℃ was only 4 h and that of HY11 coating was nearly 300 h. The as-deposited coating was mainly composed of Al2O3 and Ni3Al. The coatings material was composed of Al2O3 after oxidation in air at 1200 ℃. Conclusion The cyclic oxidation life of HY11coatings is 298 h at 1200 ℃. The cyclic oxidation life of DD6 alloy at 1200 ℃ is improved significantly.
