Abstract:
      In this paper, the research advance on the mechanical behavior and energy absorption characteristics of soft wood is reviewed. Firstly, the effects of various factors, including density, moisture content, temperature, microstructure as well as defect, service time, etc., on the mechanical properties are discussed. Then the experimental investigation progress is summarized from the two aspects of macro-observation and micro-analysis, and the development in numerical simulation analysis is reviewed from the two aspects of constitutive model and mesoscale geometrical model, furthermore, related theoretical work in is also briefly introduced. Finally, some suggestions for future work are given.
