Abstract:
In order to know better the performance of rubber 5880 products and to evaluate their service life in lubricating oil, the accelerated aging method was used. For both states of compression and free storage, the basic properties of rubber 5880, such as compression set in 20% constant compression, tensile strength, tension set and elongation at break, were tested and analyzed with time and temperature in lubricating oil and hot air respectively. Data analysis has shown that the tensile strength and tension set of rubber 5580 in both hot air and lubricating oil are not sensitive to thermal aging, which cannot be used to characterize the relationship between its service life and performance quantitatively. But the compression set and elongation at break basically conform to the time-temperature equivalent principle. In general, the performance of rubber 5880 in lubricating oil decreases more slowly because of shielding oxygen. Additionally, the exponential performance-time decay law and the Arrhenius formula are used to quantitatively describe the performance-time-temperature relationship for rubber 5880. It is estimated that the service life of rubber 5880 in lubricating oil is 5 a for seal products or over 25 a for other non-stressed products.
