Abstract: |
The paper aims to analyze the reason of sand control screen failure and solve the sand control problem of injection wells. Aiming at the sand control screen failure of a injection well in Bohai oilfield, the damaged screen is salvaged and the damaged area is sampled. The damage characteristics and law of each part are analyzed by means of macroscopic and microscopic observation of the damage site, EDS spectrum component measurement in key areas and indoor simulation test calculation. The macroscopic and microscopic observation results show that the damaged area presents obvious erosion damage characteristics, and the test calculation results show that the damage rate is 1.299 mm/a. Predicted life span is 0.35 year (4.2 months), which is consistent with the actual situation. It can be seen that formation sand accumulates outside the screen, leading to the screen plugging and forming a high pressure difference. The high-speed injection of water impacts the accumulated sand outside the screen to form a turbulent flow of the sand-containing fluid in the vicinity of the outer surface of the screen. The partial reverse impact of the screen tube forms a scouring corrosion of the sand-containing fluid, causing partial erosion damage and perforation. Gravel packing sand control methods is recommended following to effectively solve the problem of erosion damage. |
